This is a personal practice, intuitively developed over the past 8 years and shared with community for the first time in 2020 :~) It combines mindfulness meditation, plant sensory experiencing + improvised movement. It's a space for building self awareness, stability + embodied creative expression alongside Earth connection.
ᗷOᗪY ᗩᗯᗩᖇEᑎEᔕᔕ is essential to each gesture in our everyday movement. It is a constant conversation among the mutually generative systems of our being.
Mindful sensory communication with plants amplifies body conversation in our conscious awareness. Moving instinctually in response, embodiment emerges in relationship with the Earth. Plants support us as we integrate ‘’internal‘’+ ‘’environmental’’ sensations and explore their entanglement—ᗰIᑎᗪ-ᗷOᗪY-EᗩᖇTᕼ unity.
We will work gently. Movement will be fully self-guided by our unique bodies, in whatever way feels comfortable and inviting. There may be moments where you want to dance, stretch or feel around. Stillness + imagined movement are also beautiful ways to participate in this practice.
Your camera can be turned on or off during our session. You won’t be required to do any talking if you don't want to. Chat box will be open for questions throughout the practice. At the end, there will be an optional moment to share feedback as a group.
This practice is for everybody, and centers access for people who experience chronic pain, body dysmorphia/dysphoria, mindbody trauma, limited mobility. It might also be particularly interesting for dancers or folks with an athletic practice.
In our experience, this practice supports pain management, injury prevention, attunement to emotional needs + boundaries, grounding, deepening intuition + exploring ecstatic states. It's also been a powerful way to tap into pleasure, relieve stress and of course, go deeper with the herbs!
Trusting body signals, we grow in confidence + power as providers of our own care.
Facilitated by Remy, an herbalist + artist living with chronic pain + CPTSD + fluctuating abilities.
WHAT YOU NEED:
-
Blue Vervain to work with— Physical plants optional!
A tincture, flower essence or tea to ingest? An oil, salve or liniment to smell + touch? A live plant in your space to sit with? A sprig from outside? Dried herbs to burn or smoke? A sense memory of Blue Vervain, if you're already intimate, will also do just fine. Working with a pic is another option, if you're a visual person.
-
Space to move comfortably in whatever range of motion you like.
Exploring containment or stillness with subtle movements might suit you, or you may find yourself wanting to fill out a room. The floor, furniture, and any mobility aids may be used for support— you might want a setup with options for different body positions. Have blankets, pillows and self-massage tools around if you’d like.
-
A setup to play your own music during the movement portion, if you like.
Participant mics will be muted while we move. Choose anything you’d like to move to! Silence is also an option.
-
Water or snacks to keep you comfortable.
-
A notebook, for folks into taking notes or who may want to take journalling breaks during the session.
